Solar System - Planet Mercury
The Solar system is a system that is in Milky Way galaxy. In the Solar system, in addition to the 8 planets and the sun, there are dwarf planets, moons, asteroids and comets.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. It is also smallest and second hottest planet in the Solar System. It is a terrestrial planet.
Mercury looks like the moon. It is small and covered with craters. Its atmosphere looks like moon. Its atmosphere is made of 42% oxygen, 29% sodium, 22% hydrogen, 6% helium and 1% trace gases.
Mercury is slightly bigger than Earth’s Moon. Its diameter measures 4878 kilometres and it is 58 million km from the sun.
Despite having oxygen, Mercury is too hot for us to live on Mercury with its average surface temperature being 167 °C (333 F°). Also it can rises to about 430°C and drops about -170°C. Mercury takes 58.6 Earth days to orbit the sun and 59 days Earth days to become a one day of Mercury.
Mercury has no moon, because the gravity of Mercury is too weak to hold any heavy object.
Its crust, as well as mantle is made of silicate rocks, while the outer core is molten iron. Deep inside, the inner core is solid iron.
Mercury can’t be seen by our naked eyes. It needs good telescope to see it, because it is far away to see, Very small, atmosphere is too thin and Mercury only passes directly between Sun and Earth 13 to 14 times in a century.
On Mercury, it has so many craters, some no active volcanos; don’t have any elements of water, too hot and too cold.
Even though it is not possible for people survive on Mercury. The lots of satellites were sent for research to Mercury. Luckily, the satellites missions were very successful and we got of marvellous photos of Mercury.
Moreover, scientist discovered that Mercury has very large solid iron core, about 75% of its total diameter.
